Troubleshooting your Cavius alarms

ISSUE: The alarm is sounding even though there is no smoke.

From time to time, due to varying environments, your Cavius alarms may activate even when there is not a fire. If this happens please follow the simple steps or watch the video below:


If there is a fire, evacuate immediately and call 000

If there is no danger of fire follow this simple 3-step process:

 

1/ IDENTIFY THE SOURCE ALARM

As your alarms are now interconnected, when one goes off they all go off. To find the source alarm look for the alarm with the red light.

 

2/ SILENCE THE SOURCE ALARM

To silence the alarm press the full face of the source alarm until you hear a beep. This will silence all of the alarms.

 

3/ CONTACT YOUR PROPERTY MANAGER

If your alarms continue to go off please contact your property manager who will liaise with Safety Watch. We will try to troubleshoot over the phone or, failing this, come to your property to rectify the problem.


DO NOT REMOVE THE ALARMS!
This will render your property non-compliant and unsafe and you may need to pay for the alarms to be replaced.

 

95% of false alarms occur due to either dust or bugs finding their way inside the chamber and scattering the optical light, which will activate the alarm.

FIX: run a vacuum cleaner, with a brush attachment (if you have one) on the lowest setting, around the outside of the alarm’s chamber Filter (grey mesh). Do not open up the alarm.
